Samantha reached out to me after seeing some photos I had done for some friends. I was excited to find out that she wanted both family and maternity photos! I love seeing a growing family and being able to capture such a special chapter in their lives.
I loved the bright springy colors of Samantha and Marcus’s outfits, especially little Barrett’s cute romper/overalls! Samantha had requested downtown Middleburg for our location because she had seen some beautiful photos from that area, and I have to say she chose a great location! I had never been to the downtown area of Middleburg; in fact, all I knew about Middleburg is that there are a lot of wineries in the area. The downtown area has a lot of historic buildings, with a lot of them focusing on the town’s equestrian history. We found a lot of cute alleyways and building fronts for photos and then headed down the road to an open field for some more photos.
I always try to provide as many combinations of people and poses as possible when it’s a combo session like a family/maternity. This also includes photos of just mom and dad, which can be hard sometimes with a little one. We tried a few when we were in the downtown area, but since we were on the main street, we had to keep a watchful eye on Barrett to make sure he was safe. Once we got the open field, Marcus had the genius idea to play some music on his phone. Turns out, all we needed to keep Barrett occupied was Baby Shark! I will forever recommend this FIRST when I have future family sessions (or bringing a toy that the child likes).
I can’t wait for this lovely family to welcome baby boy #2 – enjoy!
